Situated on a 60-acre estate approximately 750 feet above sea level, Montpelier has wonderful views of Mount Nevis. The plantation dating from the early 1700s, was previously a sugar estate, which hosted the wedding of Horatio Nelson (later Admiral Lord Nelson) and Fanny Nisbet in 1787. In 1963 the estate was acquired and out of the ruins it was converted to a plantation inn, which now features 17 rooms. Montpelier is four miles from Charlestown, six miles from their private two acre beach facility, and 12 miles from the airport.
Facilities: Fresh-water pool, restaurants, tennis, and private two-acre beach facility with complimentary beach shuttle. Montpelier's three Nevisian and three European Chefs offer classical cuisine with local and contemporary inspiration. The inn is renowned for its imaginative use of local foods, including fresh lobster, fish, and pork. Pastries, breads, sorbet, and ice cream are homemade, as are the jams and marmalades, made from the fruits grown on the property.
